Kevin Van Giel

First soloist in the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Air Force, Principal euphonium player of Brass Band Willebroek

After graduating as a computer engineer Kevin Van Giel got his masters in music in 2013 at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven with Nick Ost. He is first soloist in the renowned Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Air Force. This professional military band play concerts, military services and tattoos across Europe. Besides his permanent military position Kevin is the principal euphonium player of Brass Band Willebroek, who were multiple Belgian and European brass band champions. He also is a member of the Cosy Brass Quartet.

As a freelance musician he often plays with wind bands and symphonic orchestras for concerts and recordings. A few of these are: Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, deFilharmonie, the Flemish Opera, The Flanders Symphony Orchestra and La Monnaie.

Kevin also has a masters in band conducting with Jan Van der Roost and Ivan Meylemans. He conducts brass band ‘De Kempenzonen’ from Tielen, fanfare band ‘Sint-Jozefsgilde’ from Mol-Sluis and youth band ‘De Onafhankelijkheid’ from Wiekevorst.

 

From the academic year ’20-’21, Kevin Van Giel will be teaching saxhorn at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp.
