Royal Schools of Music

Emily grew up near Cambridge and began playing the cornet aged 7. She progressed through the Training and Youth sections of the Fulbourn and Teversham RBL Band before switching to the euphonium and joining the Senior Band.

She was a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain for four years under the world-famous conductor Bramwell Tovey.

In 2005, aged 14, Emily was accepted into the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music and remained in Manchester for 8 years, attending the RNCM and studying with David Thornton.

During this time, Emily was a dedicated member of the Marsden Silver Prize Band in Yorkshire. Highlights here included winning the Senior Cup contest and coming third in the All England Masters and the Scottish Open Championships.

At the Whit Friday Marches she has been awarded the ‘Best Euphonium’ title in several locations.

In 2012 Emily became a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, following a recital of contemporary music which she also performed at the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference in Linz.
