Performer, FivE Euphonium Quartet

Leading his peers toward a fresh approach to the euphonium, Mitch Mest strives daily to develop methods of performance that are engaging to a wide variety of audiences. He currently pursues his musical endeavors under the guidance of Professor Velvet Brown at Penn State University. He regularly performs with the nationally recognized Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.As a soloist, Mitch has been both active and successful in the competitive realm, placing second in the student division of the Leonard Falcone International Tuba/Euphonium Competition and first place in the Southeast Regional Tuba/Euphonium Conference Young Artist Competition. He has also presented solo performances with the Reading Symphony Orchestra, the Ringgold Band, and the Boyertown Area Senior High School Concert Band.Mitch is extremely active in the chamber music world as part of the rising euphonium quartet, FivE. This dynamic quartet works tirelessly to extend the reach of the euphonium to new audiences through unique brands of performance.Mitch is currently the President of the Penn State chapter of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association, and plays exclusively on the Besson Prestige 2052 euphonium.
