Marina Boselli

Founding member of Canaja Brass Quintet

Born in Como in 1998, she began studying euphonium at the age of 12.

She obtained the Bachelor and Master Degree in Euphonium at Conservatorio “Guido Cantelli” in Novara, with M° Corrado Colliard, both with highest honours.

She then attended the Master Degree in Chamber Music at Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan, with Ma Monica Cattarossi, graduating with highest honours and Honourable Mention.

During the years she perfected with internationally renowned teachers such as Steven Mead, Bastien Baumet, Corentin Morvan, Enzo Turriziani, Ermes Giussani, Mario Barsotti and many others, and took part in the International Women’s Brass Conference mentorship program in 2021.

She is winner of numerous national and international competitions, including the National Arts Prize, 1st Absolute Prize in the 8th edition of the “Conservatory Prize” of the Milan Conservatory of Music, the “Città di Stresa” International Music Competition, and the VTEC Solo Euphonium Competition of the International Tuba and Euphonium Association.

Since 2018, she has been first solo euphonium of the Civica Filarmonica di Lugano, with whom she has performed in Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Austria, and since 2023 she has been teaching Euphonium at “Alfredo Casella” conservatory in L’Aquila (Italy).

She has given euphonium masterclasses for the North Texas Low Brass Camp, the OctubaFest at the University of Rio (UFRN), in Italian conservatories and for several Italian music associations and band academies.

Active in Italy and abroad as a soloist, she performs in prominent seasons, including Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Festival ArteScienza in Rome, Festival AltriSuoni in Genoa, the Camera con Musica concerts of the Teatro Sociale in Como, Concerti della Società Umanitaria in Rome and Milan, and the Rondò season of Divertimento Ensemble.

Fascinated by contemporary musical languages, she collaborates as a guest musician at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia on new repertoires for euphonium and electronics, also giving masterclasses on composing for brass instruments and extended techniques at conservatories and international composition campuses.

Interested in the appreciation of historical heritage and informed praxis, she devotes herself to the study of the ophicleide and serpent, collaborating with orchestras that use original instruments, such as I Barocchisti (Baroque Orchestra of Italian Switzerland) and French orchestra Le Cercle de L’Harmonie.

Alongside this, she is a founding member of Canaja Brass Quintet, a brass ensemble born in 2017, engaged in numerous festivals, with whom she recorded their debut album “UN.
