Giuliano Cerbarano

1st Euphonium of the Italian Army Band

Born in Rome in 1989, he began studying trombone and euphonium at the age of 8. He continued his studies at the conservatories of Latina, Benevento and Avellino. He obtained the Bachelor Degree and the Master Degree under Giovanni Aiezza, his teacher at the conservatory.

He perfected his skills in Trombone with Andrea Conti (First Trombone of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia) and in Euphonium with Steven Mead (International soloist and teacher at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester) and Luciano De Luca (International soloist and Euphonium of the Musical Police Wind Band). He attended specialization courses with David Childs, Matteo Caramaschi and Fausto Bottoni.

He collaborated with the “Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia” conducted by Antonio Pappano, Keith Lockart and Carlo Rizzari. He has toured Europe, the United States, China and the United Arab Emirates, performing in the most prestigious concert halls in the world such as the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Tonhalle in Zurich, Kulturcasino in Bern, Victoria Hall in Geneva, KKL in Lucerne, Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Paris Philharmonie, Southbank Centre in London, Philarmonie in Essen, Carnegie Hall in New York, Boston Symphony Hall, Kodak Hall at Eastman School in Rochester, Kennedy Center in Washington, Emirates Palace Auditorium in Abu Dhabi.

Solo Baritone, Euphonium and Principal Euphonium of the Italian Brass Band, conducted by Filippo Cangiamila (Master Director of the Italian Army Band) and Giuseppe Saggio, with which he won two Italian championships, a second European prize and the European Championship of the EBBA (European Brass Band Association) Utrecht (N) 2018.

He has won prizes in National and International competitions such as: the Silver Medal at the “1st Vienna Music Competition” and the Second Prize at “The North International Music Competition” in Stockholm.

He arrived second at the competition for the 2nd Euphonium at the Guardia di Finanza Band and he won the competition for the 1st Euphonium at Italian Army Band.

He has participated in broadcasts on the main Italian television networks.

He performed as a soloist at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples with the brass ensemble of the Conservatory of Benevento directed by Gianluca Camilli “Brasseventum” during the “Concerti in Terrazza 2018” festival. He performed the Concerto No. 4 “Omaggio” by Philip Sparke with the Banda di Ferentino performing the Italian premiere of this concerto arranged for Euphonium and Wind Orchestra.

He published for Mulph Edizioni Musicali the reconstruction of the score for Chamber Orchestra of Fantasy, Potpourri for Euphonium and Orchestra on “Il mio Tesoro” op. 94 by Johann Nepomuk Hummel.

He has participated in recordings such as the representation and recording of the opera La Fugitive by Lucio Gregoretti with the “Giovane Orchestra” of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Verdi Overture with the Italian Brass Band and Roots, debut album by Enzo Turriziani (1st Trombone of the Wiener Philharmoniker), recorded with the Italian Army Band.

He has been a teacher of Trombone, Euphonium and Ensemble Music at the Liceo Musicale “Leonardo da Vinci” in Vairano Patenora and the Liceo Musicale “Luigi Garofano” in Capua.

He carries out an intense teaching activity and is a collaborator of the Accademia Italiana di Euphonium.

Since 2020 he has been 1st Euphonium of the Italian Army Band.
