Chris Robertson

Principal Euphonium Brighouse & Rastrick

From Carnoustie, Scotland, Chris began playing euphonium at the age of 10. Now, Chris is Principal Euphonium of Brighouse & Rastrick, Euphonium tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Previously holding principal positions with many bands including Grimethorpe Colliery & Kirkintilloch to name a few.

Chris has been instrumental in the success of B&R since joining, this includes winning at the British Open, Brass in Concert and the Yorkshire Area competitions, with multiple solo prizes and accolades to boost. Studying at the RNCM with Prof Steven Mead and Dr David Thornton, Chris graduated with first class honours and he was nominated for the Harry Mortimer Award in his final year, where he now proudly returns as a specialist external assessor.

The following year, Chris graduated from the RNCM’s prestigious International Artist Diploma Course as a member of A4 Brass Quartet and is now an Associate Member and Honorary Associate Artist of the College. Chris has performed on Besson instruments for almost 20 years and is now delighted to be joining the brand as an artist. Chris plays exclusively on a Besson Prestige 2052 a soloist Euphonium and performs as a soloist throughout the UK as well as recent performances in Switzerland, Ireland, Sweden, Lithuania, Isle of Man and Finland.
