Lorenz Havermans

Euphonium at the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Air Force & Principal Euphonium at the Noordlimburgse Brassband

Lorenz (°1994) started his music career at the local music academy of Heist-op-den-Berg (Belgium). He continued his career at Luca School of Arts under the guidance of Nick Ost, where he graduated in 2017. In addition to his master’s degree, Lorenz also obtained a specific teacher’s degree.

Since February 2019, Lorenz is working as a professional euphonium player at the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Air Force. He also holds the Principal Euphonium seat at the ‘Noordlimburgse Brassband’ and plays at the ‘Koninklijke Fanfare Onafhankelijkheid Wiekevorst’. In his freelance career, Lorenz regularly performs with various orchestras in Belgium and abroad. In addition to his career as an euphonium player, he is also active as a teacher and conductor.

Lorenz has participated in several national and international competitions. At the age of 18 he was crowned laureate at the Belfius Classics, in that same year he also won the solo championships of Vlamo. In 2018 he became semifinalist at the European Soloist Competition for Brass and Percussion Instruments. At the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition in Rome he obtained first place. Lorenz was the best soloist at the Flemish Open Brass Band Championships in 2018. In 2019, Lorenz won the Foden’s Solo, Duet and Quartet Contest in the air variety category, with the trophy of Most outstanding Euphonium of the competition on top. He finished third at the British Open Solo and Quartet Competition 2020.

Lorenz is a Besson/Buffet Crampon artist and performs exclusively on a Besson Prestige 2052
Euphonium.
