Chris Flynn

Principal Euphonium The Cooperation Band

Chris Flynn is a talented euphonium soloist and private brass tutor based in Scotland. Hailing from Carnoustie, Chris began his musical journey at the age of 10 under the mentorship of Michael Robertson BEM, and later joined the esteemed Carnoustie and District Youth Brass Band in 2011.

During his early playing career, Chris achieved notable success by winning the Besson Scottish Solo Championships twice, and subsequently assumed the role of Principal Euphonium with the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland (NYBBS), embarking on a tour of Norway in 2016. At just 16 years old, Chris was appointed Principal Euphonium of the Cooperation Band (formerly the Co-operative Funeralcare Band), a position he has held for almost a decade, receiving numerous individual solo awards throughout his tenure.

In addition, Chris frequently performs solo recitals and contributes as a freelance musician with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) in Glasgow when required. Beyond performing, Chris is passionate about imparting knowledge and nurturing the next generation of brass musicians. He remains steadfast in his mission to elevate the profile of this versatile yet often under-appreciated instrument. With over 15 years of experience with Besson instruments, Chris appreciates the distinct tone quality of the Besson Prestige Euphonium, an instrument he has been loyal to throughout his musical journey.
